This has been amusing reading! Thanks! Another place mine chose was in a prickly pear cactus with tall grass growing around it. Well protected! They really have minds of their own.

My chickens all lay in their nesting box. Occasionally if they are free ranging they may lay in their original coop that I use for storage now. Its my ducks that lay in crazy places. They either hide them or lay them right where they are at the moment.

What a clever hen! Yes, I think with chickens, especially those that free range, you get to go on frequent egg hunts!
