Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Hello from Gig Harbor, Washington! I've raised countless chickens and ducks since 2016, but now have a small flock of Muscovies who I love dearly.

Hi all

I've been recovering from a tenodesis in my right shoulder for most of the year as these aren't quick fix surgeries.
I did have big plans this year to paint my huts inside and out, tend to a new meadow garden that l started last year and renew everyones perches.
Unfortunately this is now my list for next year when I'll be fully healed.
My chooks have kept me happy watching them go about there business everyday!
Hope everyone is well and happy clucking!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. That's no fun, and is very debilitating. I've had both my shoulders replaced. Nothing worse than shoulder pain. Glad you are still keeping choice. They are great therapy.

Hello All:

Yep been busy here on the farm. Turkey hatching season was successful and I am trying an experiment for raising broilers or at least something similar...that's what brought me here today....doing research. My thought was what if I couldn't get broiler chicks from a hatcher...Kind of like what if I couldn't get food from a grocery store. Anyway...I did a bit of research and decided to try my wings at it so...now that I see I should have possibly been using a cornish white hen. I'll see if what I have here now works. The hens I have are laying and I'm going to try to hatch a few around the end of the month. I'm using Delaware and white Jersey giant hens and a White rock rooster. Everyone is happy and healthy. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for checking in!!:jumpy

It's nice when we can be somewhat self sustainable. Hoping your breed mix works well. I personally cannot imagine relying on the store for eggs. Been too many years since I had to buy them.

Currently dealing with bumblefoot on one of my easter eggers. Pretty traumatizing for both of us. Will post about it later, and ask for some advice.
Hi,

So sorry about the bumblefoot. It's something many of us can help you with but best if you take pictures and post it in our Emergency Forum.

You will get some advice for your EE so you can both feel better about it. It is rarely life-threatening if treated. If not, then it can be. You'll get help so no worries! :hugs
