Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

I am still chugging along! I've been in radiology technologist school for the last 2 years and just graduated so I finally have more time to spend with my chickens again. And of course that means we had to get some ducks too lol!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Hi we are doing well!
I had a roosterbut I wasn't comfortable with the hens losing feathers. I rehomed him to a lady who wants to breed him. He is turning into a wonder rooster. I may have regrets. Soon afterwards a broody hen hatched two chicks.

I am happy to hear that you are doing well!

It can be tricky to tell if a rooster is going to do well with your flock. Sometimes they do not do well for you but do well with a different flock.

I’m doing well. Lost another birdie. Sarah died of kidney failure. Only two birdies left out of nine. Otherwise my only two are fine. Silky keeps me on my toes. She just tried to eat an alcohol pad from my hands. Fortunately I was holding onto it pretty firmly so she didn’t get to swallow it. I’m concerned if she will be okay. It was in her mouth for a second. She’s my tough old girl. She’s six years old and will be seven this August. Luna is also doing well. She’s still pretty lively and still makes her cute little noises. She’s five and will be six this August. Hopefully they will both surpass the age of eight. Apparently chickens have a lifespan of 5-8 years. Silky is still laying eggs. Here is a picture of Sarah. Silly one too.

PS Sarah’s neck feathers are all messed up because she has Silky take them off for the summer. Silky also likes her neck bare. Tried to stop them from doing this but it never worked. They just hid behind a corner in the house to do it. This wasn’t bullying and they were extremely calm while doing this. I know because Silky is the dominant bird and they would stand close to each other with their chests together and gently remove them from one another.
