Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

We just baled up second crop here. That's enough for our uses. Congratulations on the upcoming vacation, and the new chicks.
We bale only for ourselves too. It's to keep the Donkeys happy during the winter....
Up north we did Timothy, Birdsfoot Trifoil square 45 pound hay bales. We would do a little over 10,000 bales a year. Luckily we had all the equipment that could handle the heavy job. We sold the hay directly to a hay broker who sold the hay to racetracks....
One time a private, very snooty, individual came to buy our horse hay. She actually chewed on the hay to taste it! She tried to get the bales cheaper stating the hay didn't taste good. Jerry walked away, she called to him and stated she would buy the hay. He said it wasn't for sale, feed your horses snow balls this winter....

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Hi! I've been busy with my toddler, horse, mini donkey, cats, dogs, work, and now this grumpy mug....who I'm pretty sure is gunna be a roo. My daughter picked it out and named it Hedwig lol and here I wanted more eggs.

Hedwig does look very serious. Hopefully it's a pullet about to start laying eggs for you. :)

That's a lot of hay. We do around 300 bales a year. We need less and less each year. Down to one old donkey, and 4 old goats.

We do round bales now, way to old to do square bales. We use an old Hesston 5580 round baler it puts out a 5x6 bale that weights about 1200 lbs. We sold all our newer equipment when we moved to Alabama. We said we would never do hay again! That statement only lasted one season....

I've been pretty busy with work lately. About 6 months ago I bought a trio of brahmas and they've quickly grown to be my favourite breed. Probably because they're giant teddy bears. Currently got 3 of their chicks growing excited to see what they'll turn out to look like.

I don't have a current pic of the roo but he's a handsome teddy now
