Update:
Hatched 6 baby chicks from the incubator starting last Monday, 5/21.
This Monday the three broody hens started hatching their clutch. I try not to fool with them too much but believe we are up to 7 now. I have all the roos separated from the hens now and I have one roo I plan to keep (he's just such a sweet guy). The other four free range and they don't go anywhere. This is so new for me! The one incubated are separated from them though.

Hey everyone, first time logging in in a while. I've been focused on work, grad school, and my kids. We're currently in the process of purchasing almost 2 acres out here with a nice house and shop. I'll be ramping up my poultry raising then. Doing research right now on breeding my own meat birds as a sustainable food source.

It sounds like you will have a great place to raise Meat Birds!

Hi! I haven't been posting much, but I'm still around! Thanks for reaching out!

I am working on raising another batch of chicks. From 6-8 weeks old right now. Outside, but separated from my older flock.

New babies are Buff Orp, Lav Orp, Speckled Sussex, Houdan, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Blue Splash Marans, and 3 Salmon Faverolles.

Sadly I lost a lot of my older girls in the last year. So it was time to replenish.

Oh! And if anyone has any experience sexing Speckled Sussex chicks, hit me up! I am suspicious that my SS is a roo. I did pay for a pullet, but I know its not guaranteed.

Been busy here on our little hobby farm. Recently got 7 new turkey chicks. One is really wobbly, so the others started pecking him. We have separated him but am afraid the damage to his head may be permanent. One side of his head is down to the scull. Both ears are bloody, one looks like it is gone. What can I put on his head to help it heal? We are looking into the cause of his wobbles but are open to suggestions please.

Just letting you know,, that My bantam chicken had a similar injury. Down to the scalp. I treated it with BluKote, and wound slowly healed. She is still featherless in that area, but alive and well.
