Checking the cows today

Trust me, I'm balancing a lot of different needs here and a very large part of me wants a bull. I have five heifers, so the break even point on the bull investment was going to be a little further out. Plus, I'm not set up to split the herd very easily when the bull has to be pulled out. So, for now, I'm going to AI. This should be the last year I keep my heifers, as well. Then I could consdier a bull since I'll be eating/selling all the offspring.

I've arranged to house/feed a clean-up bull a couple months this summer, too. B ut, that is free to me, whereas renting someone's bull for servicing was gonna cost me more than AI'ing. And I probably get a better bull from the test tube than I would here.

A good frined of mine AI's show cows....

Katy-your cows are very pretty! They all look so healthy!

You have to call the one with a Kangroo on their forehead either Kanga or Roo.... he he he...
They look great, sloughing off their winter coats and beginning to get sleek and shiny....
Love your land! Enjoy for me!

Katy,

Great looking herd - awsome confirmation in all of them. And your pasture looks fabulous. Where in Kansas are you? I spent three years of high school in Fall River (SE KS). Went to high school in Fredonia.

I'm in central Kansas....about 1/2 hour from Hutchinson. I've been to Fall River and Fredonia, but not for many years.

I know where Hutchinson is! DH and I were just talking about how nice it would be to retire down there when we can't take the Alaskan winters anymore. We both miss the catfishing!

Katy

Didn't know you had cattle. Maybe we will need to do a cattle swap
