Checkout what today brought.....BEES(NEW VIDEO)

I have not tryed nuc boxes or swarm catchers. I built this hive originally when I found a swarm hanging from the base of an Xmas in about december. They were gonna die out there any way with the temps and ice we were getting....so I cut the branch off put it in a box and got the bees home. They did fine for a while but slowly died offf. And finally all died. I'm really looking forward to getting a swarm into this hive...I will have to build a hive that will hold the size bars I'm using. Because they wont be able to stay in that hive for too long.

Just update from today....

Was even WARMER Today....Hive was BUZZZING! Probably about 40 or more bees today. I'm really expecting within the next month or two to have a swarm move in. These bees are probably from 2-3 different colonies which gives me an even better chance. I did some checking up of the hive today and they had the sugar can bone dry. Added new sugar syrup and sealed her back up. Can't wait!

I know NOTHING about bees except that there is a rather large wild/untended natural group (swarm, ?? anyway, a REALLY big extended family!) of bees about 20' up in a large tree in a yard across the road from us. The place is for sale; if it sells, I REALLY hope the new owners leave them alone and don't try to get rid of them. :flWE NEED OUR BEES!!!!
