cherry colored egg *pic added of egg *

i have a mix hen .. who is colored up really cool but she has yellow legs and a single comb .. =/

i know i have ameracaunas who lay the blue eggs ..

the australop .. is only 16 weeks old .. thats the first egg i found that color .. and its the same size as the blue eggs from my ameracaunas who have been laying for 3 weeks now .. =/ so ... i know its not from her ..

i was figuring the buffs and dom were laying the light brown eggs ... ( one is kinda speckledy .. im guessing thats the doms .. )

the silkie ... shes smaller than my banty roos .. who are tiny .. so .. no way it came out of her .. and shes 16 weeks old as well .. so .. cant be her .. =/

i was figuring the cochins wouldnt lay for at least a few days .. and wouldnt think theyd lay the red one next to the blue one .. ( those two dont leave the coop .. =/ ) the egg was in the concrete shed lol .. ( maybe 30 feet away from the coop its actually a storm shelter .. the girls like it in their cuz thats where i store the feed and its cool throughout the day .. )

I have one that lays the same color egg and guess what? Out of all the breeds you have, we only have one breed alike that can lay that color egg. An Australorp.

she is too young to be laying . tho .. especially since the light brown egg is from the much older girls.. =/ and its bigger than their eggs .. just starting .. the first one of the redish .. is next to a third of fourth brown one i found .. and the green/blues .. ive been finding for at least ...a month ..

the ameracaunas are the oldest .. they were .. six weeks old when the others . were just a couple weeks old.. if denali ( the australop ) is laying .. then should i expect eggs from zap (the frizzle same age) soon ?

it dont make sence lol .....=/

That ear patch = egg color is unfortunately not true or an old wives tale? I was so excited, prior to my girls laying, about the ear lobe = egg color thing. I girls with ear lobes that are turquoise, white, greenish and the classic red. All of the eggs are light tan.

99 % of the time it is true...I had a black hen that layed cream color, until I got her tame enough and looked close and she did have a few little patches of cream feathers on her ears, exactly the same color as the eggs!
I think the ee trait may throw this off, will let you know when they start laying, but most of them also have cream or more white patches at the ears and green legs. It's really pretty accurate, even the red hens, one with little dark speckles in her red patches lays brown/red eggs with freckles....
I'd like to know how true it is, so far, it's worked for me.
They all have clear whites and yellow yokes

here's what might have happened

1. She might be older then you thought
2. she might have matured faster then normal (does happen!)
3. maybe just a fluke and she wont lay anymore until a couple more weeks!

My Jersey Giant hen just started laying at 18 weeks... thats only 2 weeks older then your 16 week old Australorp!

i might be off on her bday .. but she was only a few days to one week when i got her .. lol ... i just think it weird shes layin normal size eggs .. not small pullety eggs.. =/on her first two ( got another this morning .. ) id expect them smaller .. especially since shes younger .. the blue eggs started off smaller .. and got slightly bigger over the few weeks .. lol .. i guess it could be hers .. wish i could catch them at it ... haha ... they all lay at random intervals in new places every day .. =/ ( its literally and easter egg hunt every day .. =p) what color egg should i expect out of my mutt ..??? lol . since she would be the only one whos egg im missing now.. she may have .. brahma in her .. but is patterned kinda like my ameri. girls...

hmm
i get three diff brown eggs a every other day ... two blue .. one "khaki/green" ( thats the amricauna .. i got her caught doin it .. ) so the other two are from the other two americaunas .. lol
and the cheri/redish colored egg.. i wanted to say my mutt laid it .. but.. ???

if australops lay the redish eggs.... maybe it is hers .. so weird that its the size and shape it is .. ( and delicious might i add =p=p )

shes the youngest pullet i have ..

and i know it cant be from the cochin girls.. they are prolli wayyyyyyy to stressed by the whole new environment thing to lay me a egg three days after gettin them home ..

and no way it came from little zap lol .. i need to make me a egg-log lol .. and start keepin track of what i get .. (where i find them .. ) and such .. lol .. or when i find new hidden nests.. lol ..
