Chesapeake Energy vandals!!!!!! Vent and questions!

Concerning them building up the land and it flooding yours... I don't believe they can legally do that. Most states/local authorities have put land ordinances into effect for this purpose. You may want to check these out as a just incase.

Maybe its time to go OUT OF YOUR AREA and hire an attorney. There is such a thing as peaceful enjoyment of your own property. Don't bother trying to hire a local attorney. They have probably ALL been put on retainer by the gas company to prevent being sued. Similar thing happened to a good friend. They tried hiring a local attorney and ALL of them turned them down because they were on retainer by the developers that were raping the land. (see earlier post) If its worth suing over an attorney will not need any up front money. If its a good enough case he/she WILL get paid by the drilling/gas companies.

It is a shame that they think they have to down all the trees.

Now would be the time to plant trees along your boundry.

<snip>I was out taking some yesterday and one of the supervisors came to my door and told me I was harrasing the workers by standing on my backyard and taking pictures and asked me to stop. Do you believe that ?????<snip>

Now that is just too bad isn't it? I would be out there all the time taking pictures, or at least making them think I was. IMHO, he had some nerve.

If we could sell and make a profit on this enough to cover all we have done and added to not to mention all the cleaning up and making pretty and building the coop for all the girls we may have been talked into but no one would like the look of it now and in talking to our realator who sold us the place we would not come out ahead just because of all the noise and the continous heavy traffic now needed to take care of all the wells back here already. The older couple across the road has had their home up for sale for 11 months and had a whole whopping 3 people look at it, lowered the asking price 4 times and have now given up I think. They have a large 4 bedroom, 3 bath, brick home on 3 acres that yes ---- used to be treed but they now have what we will have in a month or two behind us. There was 20 acres next to them that sat vacant for years and that owner sold out to the gas company for a song expecting big money also and I am sure they are disappointed too. So moving is not an option, unfortunatley living with this craziness is our only option at this point . I am much more worried about how this is affecting my girls now and if they are going to survive this stress, the big girls are argueing amongst each other and pecking each other and the babies are just piled up in a corner in the coop sweltering to afraid to come out.

Maybe you could play a radio in the chicken barns.. they will get used to it and not notice the background noise!
also when they (gas co.) are finished things may settle down around you.... hang in there...

I really dont get this at all. Why the heck would you sign it and accept it if the money isnt good?

We have a college up the street from us. when we looked at the house it was during summer break. So there were no student cars and traffic. When we moved in the end of Sept it was completely different! At one point I couldnt get out of my driveway because the students that drove in had made it impossible for me to get out. And it isnt like they dont have enough parking or a free shuttle bus! I have been here going on 8 years now and it has improved little. But during the last community meeting with the college I stood up and told them if they wanted to buy my house and tear it down so the students had more parking they were welcome to it. But it would be for a fair market value. I got cheers.

I hope you find some resolution to this. (((HUGS)))

I think you need some assistance from your municipal councillor. Surely your district has by-laws regarding what hours work can proceed? A few years back a lumber company starting running wood chippers for scrap disposal 24/7. They had to stop, you can't make it impossible for land owners to sleep and go about their work. Is there any information on how long they'll be making this racket? I'm so sorry you have to endure this.

Calm down. Take a deep breath.

First of all, I live in the land of the gas well. We are pretty much surrounded. We have had to educate outselves on this a bit because there is a LOT of misinformation about.

They are not trying to buy your land. They are trying to lease the mineral rights, about a mile under the land.

Get on Ask Chesapeake.com and read about what's going on.

You would be leasing your mineral rights to them, not selling the land. TAKE THE MONEY. They are going to take your share of the gas whether you take it or not. In fact, hold out for more money. Be the last person to sign on. It will be worth your while. The only time anyone should come on your land is to do a seismic survey.

Been there and done that. PM me if you want to know anything else. I dont have all the answers, but I have leased and I am currently are on two different pools. It can be a worth while thing for your family.

Lammie , I appreciate the information, my husband refuses to lease to them as I guess he thinks that he will get rich off of this someday. My biggest concern is all the blasted noise and what is going to be the long term effect on my girls . They are freaked out with all the noise going on so close to them! They will not come out of the coop either until it stops and when it starts back up they tear back in clucking like no other, and the noise is really grating on my nerves also. It is making me crabby beyond what is way past normal for me. What effect did it have on your chickens or did you not have them at the time. Please tell me mine will be okay through this nightmare in thier eyes. Thanks

I do hope you told him to take a flying leap?! Geez, the nerve.
