chest bump on one side

i have three chickens and two of them seem to have a swelling on one side of their chest, only noticed it a couple of days ago. is this normal? or am i worrying over nothing!:

Just one side? Sounds like you're looking at a full crop.

It's probably just their crop.

I would bet it is their crop. Check and see in the morning if it goes down, then in the evening it is really big. If it is the crop it is normal.

what can i do about it or will it rectify itself?

There is nothing wrong...it's where their food goes until it is ground up in their gizzard. It accumulates there all day as they're eating which is why it's normally much fuller/larger in the evening.

Yeah, it just means they are eating good. If it's the crop, it is normal.

It's like when a hamster has full cheeks - it's a storage area for food before it heads for the stomach.

What to do about it? Nuttin'! They shoudl have full crops at night and empty ones in the morning.
