Chestnuts what to do with them???

I've been shelling and eating mine raw--------------not dead yet.

I curse at mine because the needles stick my feet all the time. The walnuts are the worse though, I tore a ligament in my foot sliding on one.

Well no help here. Everyone justs wants to eat them. I want to see how to freeze them. I'll check else were.

I want to see how to freeze them

To freeze them- shell them and lay flat on towels in freezer bags (I make 3-5 layers of nuts and towels). I have seen some people freeze them in the shell but I find they get sort of soggy when thawed out.

I put the bags on a sheet pan & fill flat. I just keep piling on the freezer bags until I am done. Then, after a few days I can have my sheet tray back. Oh, and I squish out the extra air, too.

I did get directions on how to do that and we may do that in the fireplace. But I don't think we could do so many of them.

How do you keep the worms out of them. I picked my first crop last year and they all had worms in them!
