Chic Chick 'Bator *UPDATED*

MissPrissy I have a few questions....these might have been addressed I didn't read all 52 pages.

1. The thermostat: Is it just a hot water thermostat? Is it for 220?

2. The fan: Are they neccessary? I use 1602 bators, no fan so do I actually need one in my hatcher?

I normally use one bator for incubating and one for hatching but I received 65 eggs in the mail so I had to fill both bators and now don't have a hatcher but we have tons of coolers and DH is going to build me one. We went to the farm store and he bought a wafer thermostate replacement that is in my bators, will this work ?

My temp in my water wiggler and air temp are the same! Humidity at 60% What am I doing wrong shouldnt my wiggler temp be at 86% -

Both the air Temp and Wiggler temp are the same at 99.7 degrees.

I was under the impression that the wiggler temp was supposed to be lower then the air temp.

The humidity in the bator is 60%.

We live in Hernando County. (Gulf Coast 50 milesNorth of Tampa ).

You are one of the few people to get the setting perfect. Don't touch it. 99.7 is about as perfect as you can get.

The temp will fall when you put in fresh eggs and it takes a few hours to recover while the eggs are coming up to the needed temperatures for incubation.

Do not add any water. 60% is a little high and it may flunctucate when the eggs are cold.

So it is ok that both temps are the same?

Yep. You got it near about perfect. No swing air temps is hard to accomplish.

Thanx Miss Prissy, I saw your chickabator n had to have one. I got my first hatch out this past weekend. Way kool! The only thing I`m planin on changeing if you don`t mind since I have the tendency to turn everything into a science project is wiring up 2 lights to the stat. Only cause I found One of those small refridgerated wine coolers that I think will work? Its got 3 shelves in it and a double insulated glass door for viewing peeps. Best of all I think it`ll be alot easier to sanitize between hatches. MY cooler I got from the fish store got purty ripe smellin after it was all said n done yuck... My girlfriend says thanx too for gettin my OCD into another project LOL. Oh well I`m havin a blast with it.

have a question about your bator do you use any type of turner i would look but you have 53 pages on it and that might take all day to find the answer. thanks alot
