MissPrissy, I really like your bator. If you dont mind I am going to borrow your exact layout. My wife wants one for her class (preschool daycare). Again GREAT WORK!!!!!

Thank you very much! I am flattered that you like my layout of the incubator. By all means do use it for your wife's class. It was you and Aran that inspired me!

missprissy...i agree with redneck your design not only incorporates all of rednecks ingenious ideas but also looks well professional to put it simply. It looks just great. Mine has the same components but doesnt look anywhere as aesthetically pleasing. I basically have a hardware cloth shelf about 4inches tall extending over about 7/8ths of the base of the incubator with 3 small stainless steel bowls underneath for the water to sit in. I have the shelf ending in a small 8 inch tall "wall" of hardware cloth to stop the eggs/chicks coming into contact with what is in the remaining 1/8th of the incubator floor which is the lightbulb, fan and thermostat. The three of these components are literally just sitting on the floor in that last small little compartment. Ugly but at least in dry run effective in maintaining 60% humidity and temps of 98.7-100.5F ( inside the water weasel) which is close enough for me!

when I pick up the new camera on saturday ill take some pics. But all in all mine is ugly and yours is SCHAWEET!

I am very pleased with the home made incubator I put together and show in this post.

The bator has been up and running quite a few days now and is still holding the water wiggler at an internal temperature of 99.7. I have tried to fine tune that 0.2 degrees but it's like wearing a hair shirt. The tiniest adjustment is too much. I think it is close enough to 99.5.

The air tmperature does flunctuate from as low as 95 to as high as 101 but the internal water wiggler temp is constant and has never changed more than 0.1 degree when the incubator lid has been opened. I think that is a great success as hens get off the nest to feed and move around so of course the air temps change.

For all of you who are planning to make your own bator I wish you great success.

I think mine has run long enough that it is egg ready.

I am waiting on some buff orpington and delwares.

I am very excited to get to this point!

you have done awesome mate...i put my silkie eggs in the homemade bator today...cross your fingers for me...i set 11 eggs...7 white, 3 black, 1 unmarked???!?!?? what colour that lil buggar might be??

This is the all time most funnest hobby on earth i think!

i just checked the bator...hmmmmmmmm the humidity had jumped to 80!!! I used a straw to empty one of the little water dishes underneath the eggs. The temp is 98.7 in the water weasel which I reckon is pretty darn close...it does get as high as 101.2 but the average is pretty close to 99.5 which is the target so im happy enough.
