Chic Chick 'Bator *UPDATED*

No water wigglers in Alaska....I have been everywhere. Do you think one of those gel packs that you can freeze or heat would work? If I rolled it up and slid the thermometer in the center?
If so I only need the pc fan...........

Yeah, I think that would work fine. I didn't find the water wiggler to be helpful...more confusing than anything so I took it out. I just use 2 thermometer/hygrometers and check them against each other. Hatching has been fine.

If someone reads this - please help!

I've been reading and reading - I need to get this built today (or by tomorrow) so I can get it heated up for this weekend (when I need to use it as a hatcher only). I have eggs in an LG still air - no fan - they are growing nicely, but I have two different sets of eggs.

My question - If I don't put a fan kit in, will it work the same way as my LG ? As long as I have enough vent holes will it be okay?

Louella

I'm gonna say "yes" although I'm not 100% sure. All the fan does is distribute the air and the LG still air doesn't have one and seems to work fine (that's what I have, as well

). So I would imagine you're good to go.

Need to find someone that will take pity on us and ship us some.

I just used sandwich baggies half-filled with water, folded over and held upright in a small jar or yogurt container. Works great.

I did not real all the posts, but just wanted to say AMAZING!!

Also, does the thermostat turn off the heat light when it gets to temp? Or does it just manage to stay between 98 and 99 ½ with the light? How does that work?

Well, that's good news! Now that I think about it I do remember reading that at some point in this thread. Thanks

L&Schickens, the hot water heater thermostat does turn the bulb off and on. That is why you have to make sure you get one with the right temp range.

Right experts??

I have been reading alot on this topic and i think i am going to try and build on. Bc my hens want sit so i have been reading about doing it myself and i came across this topic and it sounds like alot of fun to do.
