You have a nice mix of chicks. Very cute. Are these the home hatched or from school? Enjoy your chicks, I'm sure you are!

They are both, some hatched at school and some at home because they were hatching on a Friday and I had to bring them home with me. We have Coturnix hatching right now and some mixed banty eggs. Since we are on a three week break starting today the students are coming over to my house and we are building the coop and boxes for a family. Their families are coming to help out too.

When I left home this morning all was well but when I returned after lunch the little black and silver baby was sitting in a corner with his eyes closed and very lethargic. I picked him up and he was chilly even though he was under the heat lamp. He passed away in my hand very peacefully before I could try anything to save him.

Thank you, it was our first real loss, it hurts a lot too. Then my baby duck getting hurt on top of it, yesterday was not a good day. Baby is doing better this morning, I have to pick up some antibiotics at the feedstore because of some punctures and some tears where his feathers were ripped out.
