Hey there !

So, I’m adding to my flock this year and bought a few different chicks a couple days ago. Not sure on their ages because I was so caught up in fluffiness that I forgot to ask. I’ve noticed that one of my Amberlink chicks keeps mistaking the other chicks toes for worms I assume ?
Yesterday I picked up one of my Ameraucana chicks and as I was lifting her up, said Amberlink chick saw her toes and ran up at full speed and proceeded to grab onto a toe so strongly that she actually yanked the chick from my hand and was pulling Ameraucana chick away. After she realized that there was another chick involved she actually stopped and let go.
Fast forward to today when I’m gone at work and my mom came in to hold one of her favorite chicks which is a very tame Silkie and once again, Amberlink chick saw the toes and grabbed one and apparently pulled the Silkie from my moms hand and the poor Silkie was crying out. I got home and checked over the Silkie which thankfully seems to be fine >.<

Is there maybe something I can do to protect the chicks for next time we take them out of the exclosure ? I do have some of that No peck stuff but I don’t know if it can be used on chicks ? I’ll try to include a picture of the Amberlink chick for anybody curious

I’m having the same thing happen with a RIR chick of mine and my Silkie chicks. When I want to lift my silkies out of the brooder I make sure to cup my hands under their feet before I lift them out or lower them into it. That way it’s not a temptation for my overly curious RIR (she’ll even try this with her RIR and black sex link broodermates as well from time to time). Unfortunately it’s just a normal behavior that can’t be necessarily stopped. All you can do is just take precautions and preventative measures to keep it from happening again.

Thank you both for the input :)

I didn’t have this problem with my first batch of chicks last year so I was surprised to see it happen with this years batch. Lol, I’m kinda glad it’s not only my chick who does this
