Tuesday was hatch day at my house. I left the chicks in the incubator because three eggs were left and I wanted to see if any more would hatch. Yesterday, two more hatched. I noticed when I was moving everyone to the brooder that one of the chicks bum was being picked at and bloody. I cleaned it up and it kind of looks like a prolapse?? What can I do for it? I cleaned it up the best I can but should I put something on it? It is now by itself and is up and chirping but I haven’t really seen it eat or drink anything but I’m also not watching it 24/7. Should I may be consider culling? Thanks for any answers.

@Poultrylady2022 Is it the umbilicus? Can you find the vent?

Hi I didn’t notice your comment until today. It must have been the umbilical cord because a couple of days later it was all healed up and looking great. Now I have a new problem. It just doesn’t seem to be thriving I noticed today it is a whole lot smaller than it’s siblings and just doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of life in it if that makes sense. I’ve been giving it probiotics and electrolytes to see if maybe that will perk it up but I’m worried it’s not going to make it.

Try feeding some cooked egg, and mushy wet chick feed. Some sun up coconut oil chips can be slipped into her beak as well to help if she is constipated.
