Can i use my newly built coop as the brooder and if so, should i block off the nests so they don't poop in them? I have a heat lamp and it is

in my heated garage until spring.

I was wondering the same thing but my coop is not inside a garage. I will keep them inside for at least 3 weeks.

I would definitely use the coop as the brooder.
Closing the nests is a good idea until they start sleeping on the roosts.





If you can provide electric. I'd brood in an outside building even down to 30F. Just make sure at those temps you have 2 heat sources in case one goes out during the night.

OK so keep the coop in the garage for a few weeks. Make sure they have good ventilation in that coop.
