I'm glad the eye is normal size though it sucks that you're still having to clean it constantly. any idea what going on with it? is this something that looks like it can heal or will be a lifelong problem?Sorry for the delayed reply. It went well. Still cleaning multiple times a day. The eye has sunken in to its Normal size again.
Today the chick did poop this though... is it blood? What could be wrong?
is there a stronger/faster acting oral dose or just normal putting it in water?I'd treat for Coccidiosis, like ASAP. The whole group. It won't hurt any of the chicks if it's not coccidiosis.
(forgive me if you dont need this pep talk, but I'd rather tell someone who doesnt need to hear it than not tell someone who does)I think it may be a lifelong problem, which worries me. And Luckily I have Corid on hand, so I mixed some up for them. I’ll keep updating.
Thank you. I’ve thought it over a lot, and I’m still not sure what decision I’d like to take. So far, the chick has lived happily and the only downside is the eye. I’m hoping that it may clear up on it’s own or I find a better solution. If the chick ever starts suffering or just doesn’t get better, I’m completely open to culling. I don’t think it would be in the chicks best interest to keep it alive with its eye if it shows no signs of improvement. I’ve seen some small signs, so I’m holding on to hope right now but won’t be too distraught if it turns for the worst. I’ve mentally prepared myself for that.(forgive me if you dont need this pep talk, but I'd rather tell someone who doesnt need to hear it than not tell someone who does)
I dont know your personal opinions on the matter, but.. if it is going to be lifelong, it is okay for you to decide to cull the bird. that level of supportive care (cleaning eye multiple times a day) is more than anyone expects of you & no one would fault you for putting the bird down.
