It is only turned at the ankle and It will turn so I’ll try a splint on that one as well. No, it cannot keep its balance on its own. It will stand if it can lean on something for support. I am currently giving it food and water while it’s laying down.Is the foot only turned at the ankle? Are you able to move it into a more normal position? If the leg is twisted farther up, it may be something else, like a slipped tendon in the hock. If it will position correctly with help, then a splint may be effective there also. A shoe type that goes farther up the leg to keep it positioned correctly. Is the chick able to stand and get around?
I do have some vitamins that mix into water. Can you start some chick vitamins that contain B2 riboflavin? Some have it, such as Poultry Cell, but not NutriDrench. Human B complex vitamins have some, as well as PolyVisol baby vitamins.
I’ve made a chick chair which is a first for me. I had to a strap across it’s back to keep it in. It perked up quite a bit once I re-made the splints for both legs and put it in the chair. I have water with vitamins added and softened food available.A chick chair might be helpful, until it's able to stand, so it can eat and drink comfortably.
