Chick Can't Poop!

she won't swallow anything at all.

i've got another post on here about her, but no one seems to be able to help.

she just sits there opening and closing her mouth without making a sound, almost like gasping for breath, and sometimes you can hear some hard breathing sounds. she has something wrong with her eyes, so i got her the terramycin today but by the time i got home she was even worse. i can feel almost every bone in her body... just waiting for her ot make up her mind now if she's going to live or die. i got electrolytes & vitamins for the water and tried to get that into her with a syringe but she just won't swallow and i'm too afraid it's going to go into her lungs... she's laying on the deak next to meright now bundled up in a blanket, she's breathing and sometimes lifts her head u, but i get no response from her.

Try just rolling the liquid along the side of her beak. Chickens will impulsively swallow something that dribbles down their beaks, it's a reflex that seems to work almost all the time. Hopefully it will work for her. It does sound like some sort of respiratory problem, I hope you can get it sorted out!

i'm pretty sure i'm going to have to cull her, i haven't gotten attached to her yet because i saw how sick she was getting, but i just can't bring myself to do it, which is horrible for her i know. I've been reading on here all these ways to chop off a head or something, but i just can't do it.i keep telling her she needs to die in her sleep tonight... if not i might try the freezer method tomorrow... i can't stand to see her suffering, but i also can't stand the thought of killing her... this is my first one i've had a problem with.

i think any method of culling has people against it or for it, and since i'm not capable of chopping my chicks head off like most people suggest... it's either that or CO2... and i would think just going to sleep from the cold would be better than suffocating. but that's just my opinion, everyone has their own. i don't want to have to do t in the first place...

Ok with the chick that is backed up, vasaline on a q tip about cotten length in chicks vent, orr you can give chick small enema with warm vasaline. about 1/2 cc-1cc up the rear, you can also help the chick by soaking it in warm water to help the fecal matter loosten up and flow out, HOw old are your chicks??? maybe they did not develop fully in the egg, if you are having theses troubbles. the eyes need meds to help with the swelling or once again put vasaline in them to keep the lids from sticking together Are your chicks on shavings?? maby some got in the eyes!!, Splayed legs you arent going to fix in a day if you fix them at all you may notice a difference in about a week. nature is a strange thing, please if these little animals so survive remeber the issues they had as babies and do not breed them, they may pass some serious health hazards on. Good luck

Dry ice in a bottle or closed small airtight container with the chick resting on a warm sock, Just falls asleep, after that put in a brown bag and int he freezer overnight to make sure it was humaine..

they hatched on may 26th, which was actually 23 days for them

i have the terramycin for her eyes which i've put in several time today, and she had the eye roblem before they got put in shavings, they just got their shavings yesterday and i've had problems with her eyes for a couple days. they got better, then they got worse, then better, then worse, and now this...
