The chick is 2 days old and had a rough time hatching. It was never able to stand and had to be washed to get goo off. One leg is fine. the other wont bend it can move it but it just wont bend enough to get underneath so it can stand. It is so strong and chirps a lot. It uses its good leg to scoot around the brooder. Here is a pic of the leg hope someone can help because this little one just wants to make it!!!

Was the leg like that as soon as hatched? I just read on a Brit site yesterday that stale/old chick feed can cause a leg that is straight and unbending, from the lack of vit. B & M______? Apparently they degrade over time. Supplements and fresh chick starter can keep it from getting worse, but won't treat, they said.

I hope your little one improves. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

It was born like this. I just bought the feed so I don't think it's that besides I haven't seen it eat!

If it was hatched that way, my (VERY little experience with incubating!) guess is an incubator issue involving temp. fluctuation, humidity issue, or turning. I don't have any suggestions, however--I'm very sorry. Anybody near you who breeds parakeets or canaries? They may have experience to share.
