chick challenges

I prefer scrambled as it incorporates the whole egg better instead of the yolk and white being more separate.

Tried scramled egg, tried nutri dench. The other chicks were starting to peckher. held her for hours she wouldn't eat or drink. placed her under the brooder when the other girls were asleep. she was dead this morning. This is so sad.

So out of our order of 6 from mypetchicken we have 1 EE and 1light Brahma with a wierd butt. We lost 1 EE, 1 lavender orpington, 1 white cochin, 1light brahma. I cancelled our "replacement order" and placed a new order for 2 bufff orpington and 2 buff brahma.

my butt problem chick passed away this morning. She was looking great for a few days then went down hill at approximately 7-8 days old.

I think her butt problem was actually a case of pulling umbilical scab off which left her butt raw and open sore. Then we treated with prep H which I think I probably applied too many times (3 times over 4 days) and she ate some of that off her butt plus I applied vaseline and she ate some of that:(

Watching a little chick slowly die is so so sad and frustrating- won't sip water, won't eat and won't die either.

In all we ordered 6 chicks and one survived from our delivery a week ago. We got 4 replacments today and they look A LOT more energetic and healthy than last weeks. I also had Nutridench ready in the waterer as soon as I got them home.

Next step keep them alive and plan teen brooder....
