Chick colors

Crossed my RIR xCCL roo with my CCL hen and GLW hen. They're 3 weeks old and colors seem generally expected but one. Two hatched chipmunk (a CCL egg and a GLW egg) look red/gold barred and are looking like Roos in their stature and comb. But one, from a GLW egg, is looking odd. Was born light with gold chipmunk and a head spot, I asumed Roo but is built like a hen so far and is growing in silver wings. Curious what color is going on here. Someone elsewhere has suggested my GLW is not gold but Silver with maybe Mahogany and that there's Wheaten in there. I don't really know/ understand this stuff but am curious. Any thoughts? With a better picture the person saying silver for my GLW. Says theyre taking that back. Wheaten with lacing combo. What does this mean? Where'd it come from?

I’ve seen this happen a few times and can understand the confusion. I’m not quite sure myself if this forum is supposed to be only about the Standard of perfection when there are commas before and after the word, “genetics”.

The chick looks barred/crele. Looks a lot like a male CCL but since it isn’t purebred I’m not so sure, especially when you say it came from the brown Wyandotte egg and not the blue CCL egg.
Anyway very cute chick, whatever it is.

I suppose you could move this to the What breed forum or General Discussion forum but it IS about genetics so I wouldn’t worry about it unless a moderator moves you.

Thanks guys, very curious what this lil one is! I have gotten a few suggestions if being pure CCL but that's impossible. I'm pretty attentive to who hatched from what and am 99% sure this one's out of my GLW. Suppose there's a chance it's a CCL egg but as that's the cross I've most been hoping for a hen from I'm really very sure Peanut isnt from my CCL lol guess we'll see what happens. Before they hatched I was told I'd get only red with poor lacing or barring. So the silvery color of this one came as a surprise.

There’s still the 1% of doubt

Rosecombs are dominant and the chick has a single comb. But, I have seen single combs pop up from pure sebrights which have rosecombs.

Does the chick have yellow feet? It should have yellow if from the GLW although it wouldn’t rule out the CCL because the rooster has yellow feet.

How long have you had the hens for? Any chance they were with a CCL rooster in the past 2 months?
