Ordered a batch of chicks and out of the 36, my mystery chick (salmon faverolle) cheeps constantly. Kinda like he is cold, hungry, or thirsty. He is eating and drinking and he can find the heat lamp too. I don't get it, why is he alway cheepin? He never shuts up, even when he's dozing off, he makes that thrill/cheep. Could he be lonely or sick?

He definitely stands out of the group for his volume and constant peeps! I was more wondering if this was a breed thing? I have leghorns, marans, sussex, brahmas, and cochins in the group and the have quiet happy cheeps. Not like this little guy, he's so loud!

I have one chick in my brood of 15 2-wk-olds that is like that, a Speckled Sussex. LOUD little peeper, nothing seems wrong though; eating, drinking, pooping and scratching like all the others. I've been picking this chick up and carrying it around, it's quieter then. But its peeps have a distinctly different edge to them.

oh, good point! I think he's a he because it's one of the "free/rare" chick from McMurry! Maybe baby roo behavior!

I don't know if this matters but my Faverolle is a talker. I didn't raise her so I'm not sure how she was when she was a chick but my gosh, is she vocal. She just talks all day (very loud) and loves human interation as well. Knowing this I wouldn't worry about it as long as she/he looks healthy, eats, drinks and poops
