Chick days TSC

What breeds does TSC usually offer?

I was thinking of ordering some chicks, but maybe waiting for TSC to get some in would be easier since I really only want a few anyhow. I just worry I;d buy all roosters! Does TSC sex them like the hatcheries "claim" to do when ordered?

I was at my tractor recently and I SWEAR I heard a lot peeping behind the back wall. They had the music turned ll the way up so don't know. Shadowhills heard it too. So might be.

It varies depending on what hatchery they get them from. Each TSC orders differnt. The ones you can count on will be production red( listed as RIR pullets or straight run), barred rocks, BO, mutts (these last 3 will be in a mix bin or listed by breed) ours has a bantam bin and ducks.

This is the typical usually. Mine cut down on what they have, just bantams, and assorted straight-run chicks (usually white orps or Prosuctions). They have pekins and a few rouens a lot of times too. Mine used to carry turkeys and quail but haven't seen them.

Although now they say you have to buy a minimum of 6 birds to get any.

Last year the "Studly" that was on duty for the chick area was sexing red sex links for customers by holding them up by the scruff. He claimed that the ones whos legs came up were pullets and the ones whos legs went down were males. the only problem was that they were all red onesthat he was sexing. Never picked a blond chick to sex! So when he picked up another red chick and one leg went up and one went down, I said"Must be a confused chickie"(under my breath I muttered...Here's your sign!)

I just called the TSC in Elizabethton TN they told me there 'Chick Days' is the first week in March (oh that's next week - yeah).

Here is the web site , the guy told me you can special order (the special order form is on this web site, but you have to bring the order form into the TSC store to finalize).

I was just at my closest TSC and they told me they are getting ready for "rabbit days"

That comes right before chick days! LOL
Unfortunately, when we bought the house I told the kids they could each have a rabbit. That was before the guineas, chickens and ducks! I guess I have to keep that promise. They had a decent looking hutch for about $130 guess I'll get that too. I can't see myself asking DH to build a hutch after he built a huge coop!

I dont know if your planning on keeping the rabbits inside or not but we made a cage for our indoor rabbits for about 60 dollars out of those wire shelving cubes you snap together and used cloroplast for the floor, pm me if you want more info on making one, Ive done it several times LOL
