Hi,
I purchased 7 chicks on 2/26 and they are now 5 weeks old. One of the Silver Laced Wyandottes has always been smaller then the rest and is still smaller then even the other Wyandotte. She is in good health and eats and drinks as do the others but she is still half the size of the other Wyandotte. Could she be a bantam Wyandotte? Is there anyway to tell? Here is a picture of her with the other Wyandotte. The smallest one is the back by the wire and the larger one is in front of her.

I would guess a runt.
My most recent Flock of 7 Barred Rock chicks had a runt. Shown here at 3 1/2 weeks, 3rd from top.

She pretty much caught up in size and weight around 10 months. She's on the right and though smaller than the others she wasn't on the bottom of the pecking order.

Thanks for the pictures. I guess I will wait and see.

Just like people, chickens come in all shapes and sizes. It doesn't mean something it wrong. :)

I'm assuming the bird is otherwise healthy.
Yes she is healthy as can be but has always been smaller ever since I got her. Thanks for the reply
