One of my chicks that hatched yesterday is good n dry, but the feathers are all stiff and locked together like it used too much hair gel.

Should I just keep waiting for it to fluff on it's own or should I us a damp towel to clean it off a bit?

If the chick is dry, but just not getting fluffy, move him to the brooder. He should puff up soon. If he does not start to get fluffy after a half hour, gently rub him with a warm damp towel. Then put him back. I had this same problem with a chick. He should puff up in no time!

x2 is it a loner chick? you can fluff with a dry papertowl just gently! enjoy your chicks!

I don’t know why this happens either, but I’ve found that a nice long soak (5mins)in a warm bath helps immensely. They usually fall asleep, and you may need to change out the water a few times when it cools.

Paper towel dry as much as you can afterwards by wrapping the chick nice snug and warm, followed by the hair dryer on low.

This is my recent day old that I bathed because it wasn’t fluffing up like the others...
