Chick Eviction Fears

My hubby also likes to do checks in-person but we still installed a camera, for those miserable wet or snowy days when no one wants to go outside for anything. Plus it was handy for catching a feed-stealing squirrel in the act.
but how do you not spend all day watching it ? (blush) I would be like those kids face-in-phone-all-day. Yes, I agree, maybe I should try to get that camera working again. I often tried to use the 'drop-in' (similar to a baby monitor) feature on the amazon echo dot, but it never works properly. I hear so little that I just fill in the silence with my imagination and then run out to see WHY it is so quiet (not because they are all dead from a raccoon attack, but just because they were all sleeping -until I barged in)

:hugsDoes your spouse/family make fun of you? I check on them a few times before going to bed, and if I fall asleep I will get up in the middle of the night to check on them. Last night I fell asleep without doing the last 'check' and when I woke up at 2am, I put on boots/coat/hat, and went out to check on them. Yeah, they were fine... But I needed to see that in order to stay in bed until morning. They are 3 yrs old, this is every night since they arrived.
I check on ALL my chickens a LOT especially baby chicks! I tried comforting mine the first night they spent without a light but they tried roosting on me.That lasted every bit of 5 minutes because I didn't want them pooping on me.lol I got up and went inside.

Might want to get a coop cam!
what cam do you like? iv been looking at lots and cant make up my mind :thgot 2 week old chicks in a grow out coop in the run and iv got the need to see disease. I want to make a small panic door so they can start mingling after all the threads iv seen about being younger can be okay. and being able to see anytime on a cam is priceless.

I use a Ring camera - costwise I wouldn't recommend it but if you already have Ring cameras in your house/property then adding an extra 1 or 2 might not be a big deal.

Wyze cameras probably have the most feedback on here and seem reasonably priced.

Don't buy the Blink camera! I have regretted that purchase...

I've had my two month old out with his mama no problem in the cold weather. They'll be fine, if you pick them up you can feel how warm they run.
We have 2 chickens outside and keep them warm through extra hay and a tarp over the coop. No feed or water inside.
Our 2- 10 week old chicks stay inside at night and we put them out during the day. The reason for that has less to do w/ temperatures & more to do w/ predators.

Did you ever decide on a coop cam? Would love to get your feedback.
I was given an old ring doorbell cam that I move where I need it. Comes in handy placed directly on top of the ICU crate 😊
Im looking for a perm cam in the coop to watch over the roost bullies. Need a wifi extender first.
