Simple cut down card board boxes work very well. Chicks don't scratch out the food. They hop right in and eat away. Many hatcheries use a similar thing. The boxes, by the dozen, are free for the taking at most grocery stores. Change it to a new one, if you wish, every 4 or 5 days.
