Chick grit ok for adult chickens

I need to get some grit in them today but the only thing I can find locally is chick grit. Will that be okay for them til the adult grit comes tomorrow?

Small gravel would likely work as a substitute, as long as it's a hard stone. The chick grit probably won't hurt, but likely won't help either, as it's way too small to be effective (it's not much larger than sand).

As they get older they need slightly larger grit to break up food that is not as fine as chick food that is all.

You need chick grit at 3-4 weeks till 10-12 weeks then switch to grower grit and when 16-18 weeks adult chicken or poultry grit. I used up rest of chicken grit and went right to poultry grit because that is all that is sold here and they did fine.

The grit should match the food. Chick starter food with chick grit, then grower food with grower grit, then layer feed with poultry grit. Sometimes you have to make do or buy online. When your hens start laying then you need oyster shell and grit both.
