At what age/size do they switch to regular size grit?
I'm out of chick grit and not sure it would be worth it to buy another bag of it if my chicks are 8 & 9 weeks old. But then there is Thistle is who still about half the size of the others.

I would buy another bag of chick grit, it’s not like they won’t use it. Unless there’s other stuff available in their run or yard.

Thanks! I was about to head to TSC to pick up more food and wasn't sure if I still needed the chick size.

It isn’t going to soil so keep what they don’t use in the bag for your next batch of chicks!
We've been using the left overs from the original chicks we got a few years ago. Not sure there will be any new chicks for a few more years. ;)

The grit method that I use is to put trace amounts of chick grit into their starter food, then no longer providing grit once they are outside. As long as they are allowed to scratch and dig in the dirt, they will find their own grit in the form of whatever tiny rocks are in your yard.

Eh, if you're not getting chicks in the near future, I wouldn't bother. I switch to grower/pullet grit around 8 weeks or so. The littlest one can probably make do with whatever she's currently go in her gizzard, if pullet grit isn't to her liking (though there's always different sized pieces in the mix so I'm sure she could find smaller pieces if needed).

I'd like to find larger sized grit for my adults, and feel that the 'adult grit' at TSC, at least, is actually pretty small. Agree that the chick grit is fine to put out there, and get larger grit now to add to the smaller sized chick grit. your birds will get what they want.
If you have tiny Seramas, stick with the smaller stuff longer.
With avian influenza this year, having birds outside, not under a roof, is a poor idea, so getting small stones from the ground isn't happening. Hence, must buy grit!
