My one month old chick has generally been very healthy. Last night we heard him screaming and this morning he had a huge lump, that had apparantly grown overnight, on the side of its neck. Since then he has not been eating, or drinking, and his mouth has been foaming.

Any ideas on what could be the problem, and how to solve this?

we're assuming he might have been stung by something, but aren't sure.

thanks!

I hope you have him in isolation. I have read that you can use a tiny bit of children's liquid benadryl to help chickens. But you have to be careful with that and not give them too much. It will make them sleepy but might reduce the allergic reaction.

I would really watch that spot and keep it clean to ward against infection.

If you can, get a closer look at the area and see if you can find a bite mark or whatever.

I hope your little guy does o.k.

if the lump is to the right side it is most likely his crop. Are you feeding them anything besides chick starter?
