When we feel our hens throat - just underneath her wattles - i can feel a small, round lump there. I checked all of our chickens throats and they had a similar lump, a little smaller. One of our chickens got canker in her mouth, and when we looked in her mouth the canker was on and around where her trachea is. She suffocated and im afraid the others also have canker. Our hen has been sneezing a lot, although she has always sneezed a lot, and is a little lethargic, though she is moulting very badly at the moment. She still eats a little but has lost a bit of her appetite. We did treat all our chickens with a canker medicine prescribed from the vet and the two of our chickens that had canker visible in their mouths seeming dont have canker anymore.
All of our chickens do get affected badly by their moults and it has been very cold lately, which could cause her loss of appetite and lethargy. Also, seeing as all of our chickens have this same lump could it just be a natural part of their throat. I looked up some images of chickens mouths but didnt find anything usefull. I really dont want to lose another chicken.
Sorry for the long post.
