chick hatched early

NO! The fan kits that you get for the styro bators are open faced. At least this one is. Sad thing is another nebiew had just mentioned being worried about the fan as she had accidently hit her hand on it and it hurt and I said, "I've never had a chick get hurt on it." About a week later 2 in the same day got nailed by stretching out under it. One just chipped a bit of the beak , little blood, but he was alright (can't even tell you which one it is now,) but the other almost scalped himself on it. I thought he was going to loose sight in the one eye, but I kept antibiotic on the head and above the eye and he's done good. Probably will always have a scar or missing feathers there. Now I'm scared to let them move freely around in there. I am looking at getting a different bator, but I haven't looked into how the fan is set up in the other one, I think it's the same.
No joke, I see why you take them out now. That's horrible. One day I will convert you to the dark side of Brinsea, where the incubator lays it's own eggs, and all chicks hatch, dry, within 20 minutes

If I had the funds I would join you. Maybe then I'd sleep more than 2 hours at a time at night instead making sure I am up to check for temp flunctuations....lol

Before that I still took them out, but I waited till they were HALF dry...lol

You two crack me up (Amy and scflock) but its all good. Two perspectives with great results is wonderful! Still leaves others with deciding what to do, but that's a good thing too.
I hope mine just pop out like popcorn, one after the other and I don't have to make those tough decisions... Lol

I've told AmyLynn that I'm glad we usually end up on the same threads. The two extremes. It just shows that you find what works for you, and stick with it
