@DylansMom Can i ask you what kind of Neosporin you are using? I searched for it here but didn't find any, i'm trying to find it on ebay.I've had quite a few hatch with that over the years, I just put a little Neosporin on it and let it dry up, after about a week it usually gets loose and falls off. I don't think I've actually lost any from that. I do keep them off wire, as it can catch on wire and be torn off causing bleeding.

And forgive me for the stupid question, can i use Neosporin for kids on peachicks?!
Thank you for the link.I use the type without pain reliever, I have also used regular generic triple antibiotic oint. without pain reliever. It's funny, right after you posted this I had a little spalding hatch just like this. I put the Neosporin on for 2 days and then it was all dried up and black looking, it is still attached, but he is very vigorous and doing well at 8 days now.
I think this original is the one without pain reliever

Thank you for the link.
So you only put it twice right? Or how many times? My chick still has it and doing great so far, another one hatched with him at this hatch, and gave them both Baytril, both are doing great so far, hoping they will pass the next two weeks
Thank you for this great information, i will search for Neosporin here, it should be here somewhere.I put it on the chick as soon as it is out of the shell and I see the red swollen navel. Then I apply again about 24 hrs later, and then usually by 48 hours it has dried up and looks black and scabbed over. Then I just wait and check it every few days, eventually it gets loose and will fall off, I don't try to pick at it or hurry it along at all. Most fall off in 1-2 weeks, but I think some took longer. Glad to hear yours' are both doing well.![]()
