Chick hatched with yolk!

...sorry... As difficult as it is, I'm trying to follow these kinds of posts, cuz we're on our first hatch and I'd like as much info as possible. This is so sad. I'm wondering if I'll be able to do this again....it makes me so nervous and anxious. Then for this to happen...

Roosty, I'm sorry to hear it. I am glad you didn't have to decide to cull.

Thank you to all who replied about how to cull a chick. I am going to save the CO2 link with baking soda and vinegar, and hope I never need it.

I was thinking, though it probably wouldn'tbe a popular choice, if you had to cull you could probably fill a sink with water and drown it. It sounds and seems pretty brutal to me, I don't know that I could actually do it, but it would probably work. Or maybe put him in a zippy bag and freezer. If you were squeemish about cutting the head off. I don't know exactly how I would go about it if I had to cull, but they're ideas anyway.

Thanks everyone! The other chicks that hatched are doing great! I still have more hatching now too. They all seem to be doing good too!!
