Chick hurt bad but not from the predator you would expect. graphic!

I am really sorry. I have a EE hen that is not a good mother and she is not allowed any babies..... and then I have a EE hen that will eat you if you mess with her babies....

use blukote, it's and antiseptic and will protect the wound. I had a pullet that this happened to about 1 1/2 months ago. she's still bald, but better bald than dead! Blukote saved her!

just read u lost the baby. so sorry!

I had a beautiful blue cochin chick in a brooder with 3 sebrite chicks all the same age and put together at the same time. I went in to check on them after 3-4 hours and the cochin was laid out "dead" with it's head and neck pecked a little worse than that guy! When I picked it up to discard it i saw it take a breath and rushed it to the sink and cleaned it up with warm water, put neosporin on it and ofeered it sugar water. the poor things eyes were so swollen shut that I was not sure he had any eyes at all. After doing that 3 times a day for 3 days he was up and around and eventually his eyes opened and now he is fine and thriving and it has been months later, They pecked him to the bone of his skull and the feathers there never grw back so we call him bonehead!!!

I am so happy your little guy survived. That's a cute name. I just hate knowing that they do this to each other. It so awful.
