Had to help chick hatch, now it's imprinted on me. How do I get it to un imprint?? It screams until I pick it up. And I can't just leave it in the brooder because it echos. And my great grandmother is sleeping also. So I don't wanna wake her up.

Do you happen to have a broody hen that isn't sitting on eggs? If so you can try slipping the chick under her at night. Other option is to hang a clean feather duster to chickie can set under that. Last option I can think of is to carry the little one in a pocket and slip it into the broader when it needs to warm up. And congratulations on your newest addition.

This is what I did. I had a similar situation. I put a clean terry rag in with the chick and it snuggled on the rag and slept. A small stuffed toy might work or as another posted and suggested a feather duster.

Thank you so much!! I was going to try and get some rice and heat it up in a sock and put it in there, but I have no rice lol. Perfect timing

I’d try something like @cmom suggested. But after that it really becomes a case of ignoring them and giving them something to
do. Like scattering feed or dirt sods to keep them entertained. Picking her up each time she cries just teaches her that she’ll get what she wants if she cries. They aren’t much different to puppies in that aspect.

When I take the chicks out of the hatchers they go into these boxes until they dry out and fluff up. Initially I keep the temperature around 90/95 degrees. The chicks each find their own comfort zone.
