When I came home from work today I went to look at my chickies, and my light brahma baby managed to injure herself somehow. He lower back by the tail look like it had been rubbed raw, it was red and had a little bit of drying blood on it. I washed the wound with some water and put on a glop of blue hen healer ointment (mainly cause i don't have neosporin without the pain relever in it). My question is: do i leave her with her flockmates? or should i separate her for a couple days? I think she would become very distressed if separated entirely. Would it be best to make a little wire cage for her in the brooder with the others?

I looked for whatever she could have hurt herself on, and am at a loss. There is no blood on anything in the brooder. My only thought is she might have gotten out, and then injured herself in the process of getting back in. I have them in a 3ft tall huge cardboard box.
Thanks for the help :)

Are you sure she's not being plucked by her flockmates? I'd fashion up a wire cage to keep her with her flock but out of their reach. I don't like to take birds out of the flock unless it's absolutely necessary. I hope she's healed up and everything is going well very soon

Its a possibility that she was getting pecked at, though she is one of the taller chicks, so the little guys would have had to do it while she napped. I should have taken pics before i gooped the wound up. It looked almost like a burn or a rash, but their heat lamp is off during the day, so theres nothing she could have burned herself on.
Thanks for the advise! I'll see what i can come up with for a cage.

Best case is to separate her she might be getting bullied or a creature might have done that. But my guess is she's getting bullied by the big ones
