Chick is scratching like crazy, is she???

One of my chicks, 5 weeks old, is scratching the bottom of the brooder and laying with her wings spread and rolling on to her sides then scratching again. The other chicks are standing around her and every once in a while stepping on her. What should I do?

Enjoy the show. The chick is pretending to have a dirt bath. It's a natural and normal action.

Unless that is all she is doing. As long as she gets up, eats and drinks then all is well.

That's what's going on, all right. The other chicks' behavior means they are thinking of joining in. Spa time!
