I have a chick that is a few weeks old and is having some trouble standing and walking. We think she was attacked by the other birds living with her because we found her unable to move much with a lot of her little fuzz and feathers pulled out of her back. This was almost a week ago. She’s been eating and drinking just fine. We’ve separated her and put her legs in a rubber band with a straw in the middle so she keeps her legs in a normal position because she keeps trying to spread her legs out. I’m not sure if this is what’s best for her though. We checked to see if she had a slipped tendon but everything feels fine. She will stand up and sometimes walk too, but this will only last for about a minute or so and she is laying back down or trying to walk around on the back of her legs. She mostly spends her days laying down. She did jump out of her little box I had her in today because her bulb to keep her warm burned out today in the garage. I was really surprised she could even do that. She seems to be getting a little better each day, but still isn’t walking properly yet. I’m not sure if there’s anything else I should be doing for her right now or if anyone knows what might be going on with her. Does she just need some time to get her strength back? Thank you for taking the time to read.

Can you get some chicken vitamins, liquid baby vitamins, or human b complex tablets—something with riboflavin listed on the label—and give some every day? Here are some links to read about chicken slings and chairs, and slipped tendons:

Thank you so much. I’ll get her some vitamins and check out the links.
