Hello there, Friends,

I have now 5 chicks. Had 6 but one was very small and didnt seem to want to survive. I am sure I did something wrong, but what is done is done.

4 of the 5 chicks I have now hang out and pile up, eat together but one, stays away. She sleeps by herself and eats and drinks by herself. She is the smallest, as well.

The other 4 are pretty active and chase eachother and dogpile and that sort of thing, but I am worried about this little one.
IS this normal? Should I separate her out for her own protection?

I am new to this, but have other sorts of bird pets, which we have good luck with.

Thanks,

Mathew

She is probly staying by herself so she dosen't get pushed around or stepped on. If you put her by herself she will peep all day for another friend. Id say just watch her and make sure she keeps eating and drinking. She just needs time to catch up since she is the runt.

In the Pecking order of things she is last, she is the runt I have one of my own all the other are so much bigger then her but she does fine and when I feed them treats I pick her up and feed her on my knee that way I know she gets her share as well she does defend herself quite well against the bigger one's.
So as long as she eats and drinks she will be fine just keep an eye on her and don't allow the big ones to mess with her and she will be fine...
