Hello,

I need some help with a chick. I had two with straddle legs and I did the vet wrap trick the one did great and has been walking great. The other one does not seem to be able to get legs under him even with the vet wrap. He just like sits back on his back with legs out front?? How do I help this baby. I will try to upload a photo and video.

Cute Silkie baby! :love

You can try helping it get around. Those bandages can be tricky and hard to get their balance. And sometimes it doesn't work.

Honestly, I cull for splay leg as I consider it possibly genetic and don't want it breeding forward in my stock. It becomes difficult to tell the ones you fixed apart from the ones who were naturally stronger sometimes.

Sorry you face this. :fl

You're very welcome...and he is adorable!

After reading your link and doing a little more research. I think maybe the chick has the slipped tendon so now has little legs wrapped and in a sling and actually started eating and drinking well. So will band this one so I know not to pass on the genes. I also wonder if these leg issues are more prevalent in certain breed.
