Hello! I have a week old chick in a hatching of two eggs that were from a feral chicken and she is starting to act strangely today. Wants to be spending most of her time sitting/crouching, and seems more unstable when walking. She is constantly making a low-grade chirp and seems to be a little bit shaky. Her sibling does continue to check on her and peck her sometimes.

She is eating all the feed that is around her and then kind of crouch walking towards other feed. Brooder is the same temp, and she will get up and get water. No visible injury to either leg but her wings seem to be help less tightly to her body. And she is able to get up, she just seems to prefer not to which is brand new. Sinking is up and moving around constantly searching for crumble and drinking.

Creating normal poops. I’m feeling worried! I don’t have sav-a-chick but I do have nutridrench I use with my pullets when they are off. I haven’t dosed a chick with it before…

I just had this problem about a week ago. With the smallest chick in my group, so I separated her in her own little box with a lamp and fed her some electrolytes, I with a dropper. I fed her the electrolytes, every two hours for the rest of the day, also i put water in her chick, starter and fed her. With the dropper as well. By the next day she was up and eating on her own and drinking on her own. Then I put another chick in with her for a couple of days and now she's doing fine. She's still the smallest of the group but she's holding her own

Thank you for sharing this experience! Did this little chick have trouble from the beginning? Our chick had a great first week, and then this kind of came about overnight. I am giving her dropper falls of nutrient, and it seems to perk her up a bit, but she still seems a bit unstable and definitely wants to be Laying down more of the time versus running around like before, and has the tendency to rock back on her elbows…

The problem with my little chick started the next day after I got her. I think she was just stressed out because she's smaller than the others and she was being pushed around, so just separating her for a while, gave her strength back. And she's still going like a little cruiser

I’m hoping this one does too. She weighs as much as her sibling but the laying around and balance issue is concerning. And the never ending peeping!!!
