So our black tail chicken is broody and has been sitting on eggs 4 have hatched so far but one of the chicks hatched earlier today but one of them looks nearly dead it's lying on it's back and not moving it's breathing though.

It could just be a very tired chick, but it's difficult to tell from a photo. Can you gently examine it and see if it's just exhausted from the hatch, or if something else may be occurring (injury, etc.)?

Congrats on your broody's successful hatch!

I don't know a whole lot about hatching, but it looks like it is fresh out of the egg. From what I know they like to take a little rest. Is it not under mom at all? You could try to gently tuck it under her wing perhaps, for warmth.

Thank you! The chick moves when you touch so we put her under the mothers wing with the other chick another one hatched today as well! It's healthy!

I am a newer chicken enthusiast. I adopted 4 hens that were from an abandoned flock. They are happy and spoiled now, but can someone please confirm what breed they might be? I have a few opinions already but if someone can confirm that would be awesome.
You'll probably get more answers if you post your pictures/questions on a new thread. The OP probably doesn't want your answers getting mixed in with her issue. Thanks.

In the future, if that happens again the duck faction gives them sugar water if they look they are in trouble. often it does help with recoveries.

Although chickens are different than ducks, I wonder if it could work still on stuff that is similar; like when they have low blood sugar etc.
