Scratching is a normal instinct for chickens and I guess this little one got a double-dose. It's amazing how chickens can dig!

Yeah they do that aswell, Iāve had to take the food and water troughs out 3 times today and clear them of would shaving so they can get to the water and food and over and over they do it againIt's the most annoying thing when chicks kick stuff in it their water and food. I swear my chicks used to poop in their water on purpose![]()
Iām using a 1.5 litre plastic Poultry drinkerWhat kind of waterer are you using, I may have a solution.
she's practicing! Chickens scratch in the dirt to look for seed, bugs, whatever, and to make a shallow bowl in which to dust bathe. Just wait until she starts kicking and flopping around in the little hole - you'll think it's convulsions! LOL. Perfectly normal. To keep the food and water clean, lay something flat in the brooder to make a low platform, about 1-inch. Like a piece of board or plywood, scrap of a doormat, even a small pie pan turned upside down. Put your feeder and waterer on that to keep them above the wood chips.Iām using a 1.5 litre plastic Poultry drinker
They are laughing at us because we keep cleaning it and making a fuss.Yeah they do that aswell, Iāve had to take the food and water troughs out 3 times today and clear them of would shaving so they can get to the water and food and over and over they do it again![]()
