Chick may be overheating.

My chick is panting a little but they are only a week old and it is not that hot in there... I am trying to listen to them not what is "should" Be, but this is a little weird!
Also, my other chick runs really close to the glass and the glass is not tinted so I think it confuses him.. any thing worth being worried about?

Is the brooder that they’re in have both a hot and cold side so they don’t get to warm or to cool? because in the picture I can’t quite tell. Otherwise maybe @Nabiki or others. @Quailobsessed?

Yeah I try to make one side warm one regular. They can also go behind their waterer which has shade.

What's the temp in there? You might try turning off the heat and see if it seems comfortable.

Right under the light it is 89 ish

At a week old, it might be hot at those temps. Try turning the lamp off for a while and see how it reacts. You might need to turn it back on in a bit, but that's the easiest way to see if it's panting because of the heat.

Wow, these chicks are advanced!! Hahah. I just turned the light off I will see how they do.

do you think they are ready for a sand bath? i just dont want them eating to much..
edit: they are doing good with no heat! the panting has gone away.
