Chick Newbie! Brooder and Coop Questions

I love that your little baby chickens are hanging out in the house :) That's a good point about the shavings. I hadn't thought about that but read that the dog pen was pretty easy to use. I will have to get my BF to make a mesh top for it so they won't escape.

That's a really good suggestion to just build larger than we think. And we can let them out back as long as we are there, but we have a lot of hawks and owls (for starters) that can snatch them away, so we will need something highly predator-proof.

There are a lot of ornamental breeds out there as well. My favorite is the Japanese bantam.;)

Jump right in and make yourself at home.
Hardware cloth "top" on a box or tub will keep them in. Paper towel flooring...changed often works great for easy brooder clean up.
