1/2" hardware cloth could be cut and bent to fit tight.
..or a wooden frame sized just right with CW attached.
Hard to work with attaching to glass..or is tank acrylic?

has worked for me in the past with a rowdy chick.

Yes, it's glass, that was exactly my concern...Much better option for my case

Definitely. I hate using acryllic for the same reason...It's still a pain to clean all the frostedness off, but that's part of why I chose to just use them as brooders instead of worrying about it and it will come off with enough work

Calcium/mineral buildup?
White vinegar works with some time.
Spread paper towel on glass surface and soak with vinegar, let sit...scrape and repeat.
Tank needs to be tipped so side being cleaned is horizontal and level.

I forgot to come back to this post...So, after having isolated him(as it turns out) for two days, there is no lomger any aggression at all! All chickies are getting along fine with just the occasional chase Lol Here is my personal favorite of the bunch(though all except Mr. Pill just sat on my lap or hand when I took them out and scratched their necks yesterday Lol

This little guy's name is Diaval...I couldn't help that one Lol
